It's hard to conceptualize in our tiny little brains just how vast Earth and all of its land is. If you've ever been on a long distance flight and watched the tiny plane on the screen inch its way across oceans and borders, you'll know just how strange it feels.
In most cases, it is pretty difficult to travel long distances without the assistance of some kind of transport that doesn't involve you moving your feet. This doesn't stop the occasional intrepid explorer from pushing the limits of how long a person can journey across the world unaided. How far these kinds of people tend to go can vary, but the absolute maximum is usually across a country or two.
However, the realm of possibility extends much further than that. In case anybody is feeling particularly ambitious, somebody has decided to calculate the largest distance that a person could travel on foot using Google Maps. Stretching from the tip of South Africa to the top of Russia, @MarkTomasovic posted it to Twitter — and many were skeptical of the journey's credentials. Jokes and logistics aside, it's probably not something that most would try and attempt, even if they could part the Red Sea.
